SIOUX CITY -- The three Democratic candidates seeking the party's Iowa 4th congressional district nomination will participate in a debate in Sioux County on Thursday night.
The Democrats running for the position are Leann Jacobson of Spencer, John Paschen of Ames and J.D. Scholten of Sioux City. A June 5 party primary election will determine the nominee.
U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, holds the 4th District seat.
The debate with Paschen, Jacobsen and Scholten will be held at Dordt College in Sioux Center. The 90-minute forum begins at 7 p.m.
The debate is sponsored by the Dordt College Democrat Club, the Dordt College Political Science Department, and the Democratic Parties of O’Brien, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties. The event will be moderated by KCAU co-anchor Jenna Rehnstrom.
Democratic Party organizers sought possible questions for the debate.
From her Twitter campaign account, Jacobsen tweeted Thursday morning, "We hope to see you at the 4th District Democratic Debate tonight in Sioux Center!"
Scholten is the leader in fundraising in the three-person Democratic field.
