Cone Park

Parks and Rec employees sit in the Day Lodge at Cone Park. The lodge will be the park's base of operations, providing admission, skate rentals, concessions and a place to warm up and hang out. It will also be a rent-able facility during the summer and off-peak hours in the winter.

SIOUX CITY | Wells Enterprises Inc., the maker of Blue Bunny ice cream, will be the sole provider of frozen treats at the concession area when Cone Park opens next week.

The Le Mars-based company also has received naming rights for the lodge's concession area as part of a naming rights agreement up for a vote at Monday's City Council meeting.

Under the agreement, Wells will donate $50,000. Parks and Recreation Director Matt Salvatore said Wells' contribution has allowed for all the purchase of concession equipment and furnishings at the lodge, which will be the center of operations at the all-seasons park at 3800 Line Drive.

Ice cream products on the menu include Bomb Pops, fudge bars, Vanilla Champ Cones and Chocolate Malt Cups.

An additional donation of $5,000 from the Kind World Foundation assisted with the purchase of ice skates, which will be available for rent once the park's skating rink opens in mid-January.

Cone Park will open to the public the evening of Dec. 21, giving park-goers their first chance to take the new winter tubing hill at the all-seasons recreation facility for a spin.

Located at 3800 Line Drive, Cone Park is all-seasons park that will feature tubing and ice skating in the winter and a splash pad and multi-use trail in the summer. It also features a fire pit and day lodge.
