SIOUX CITY | With spring on the horizon, Siouxlanders will have the opportunity to dust off their green thumbs later this month at the 11th annual Siouxland Garden Show.
Themed "Grow With Us," the event will be held March 24 and 25 at the Sioux City Convention Center, 801 Fourth St. It will feature regional and local speakers, how-to sessions, make-and-take projects and booths from businesses and organizations from around Siouxland.
The event is offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach - Woodbury County and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Dakota County.
Experts at this year's show will include author Heather Holm, Loess Hills Lavender's Mary Hamer, master gardeners Jenny Jorgensen and Marian Cain, and a variety of specialists from the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Nebraska Extension. Local chefs will also offer tips on how to pair food and local wines and to pull off culinary "tricks" like a "flambe."
Organizers are currently seeking vendors, as well as volunteers to set up, tear down, take tickets and help in the various areas. Anyone with an interest can sign up to help. Volunteers receive free admission and a free T-shirt.
Visitors, volunteers and vendors can contact organizers at 712-276-2175 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Entry fee will be $5 per day, with children under 12 free.
