SIOUX CITY | Finally, a weather system that doesn't tease us with minimal rainfall.
Sioux City could see up to 2 inches of rain during the next 24-36 hours. Rain began to fall early this morning and will continue off and on for much of the day, said Mike Gillispie, a National Weather Service hydrologist in Sioux Falls.
Chances for more widespread rain improve tonight, and rain could fall through the day Wednesday, bringing as much as 2 inches to Sioux City, Gillispie said. Areas west of Sioux City could see heavier rain.
"It could be pretty significant. This one looks like it's going to be pretty widespread rain," Gillispie said.
Gillispie said Siouxlanders can expect clearing skies late Wednesday, with a high temperature in the mid 70s. Sun will return on Thursday, along with warmer weather and humidity. Highs from Thursday into early next week should be in the mid 80s, with chances of rain Friday and Sunday night.
