INWOOD, Iowa | An Inwood, Iowa, dairy will pay $20,000 for violations of the Clean Water Act.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Friday that County Edge Dairy agreed to pay the civil penalty for violations found during an inspection in July 2012.

Officials say the 1,000-animal operation did not have a permit required for such a facility. It also did not have adequate waste-control facilities and the slope of the land would have resulted into discharges into nearby waterways, the EPA inspection found.

County Edge was required to stop all unauthorized discharges and gain the necessary permit. It is now in compliance.
