DES MOINES, Iowa | The field has been set for the 2015 Iowa Jazz Championships to be held in Des Moines on March 31.

Fifteen high school jazz bands in four enrollment classes will vie for four titles. Alta-Aurelia, under the direction of Corbet Butler, attempts to secure its fourth state title in four years.

The band will contend with Class 2A competitors from Northwest Iowa in Cherokee; South Central Calhoun; and Okoboji, a group directed by Greg Forney, who is in his final year of teaching in the high school at Milford, Iowa. Forney's Pioneers have won four state jazz band titles, the last of which came in 2011.

Northwest Iowa bands from the following classes include: Class 1A - Newell-Fonda, Central Lyon and South O'Brien; Class 3A - Storm Lake and Le Mars Community; and Class 4A - East and North high schools in Sioux City.

Classes 1A, 2A and 3A participate in preliminary competition at the Iowa Events Center. Class 4A bands play during the day at the Des Moines Civic Center.

The top two bands from each enrollment class take part in the evening finals at the Des Moines Civic Center, 221 Walnut St.
