SPENCER, Iowa -- A Monday night fire at the Shine Brothers Corp. scrapyard caused significant damage to a building.
Spencer fire chief John Conyn said the department was called out to Shine Brothers around 10:45 p.m. Monday night, where a processing building in the middle of the lot was on fire.
The shell of the pole-barn building, he said, remains intact, but "the contents were heavily damaged," as was the building's insulation.
"Three overhead doors were forced open and ripped off their hinges as well," Conyan added.
There were no injuries resulting from the fire.
Conyan said the cause of the fire remains unknown. The fire was brought under control by 2 a.m. and crews remained on scene until around 4:30 a.m.
