SIOUX CITY | Three people escaped a house fire without injury Monday afternoon.

Sioux City Fire Rescue responded to a 4:10 p.m. fire call at 1510 W. Third St., where the residents had exited the home without injury, department spokesman Jesse Pedersen said.

Pedersen said a neighbor had spotted smoke and called the department. Flames were visible in the top of the two-floor structure a short time later, but firefighters quickly brought the situation under control, he said.

The local Red Cross team gave aid to the displaced residents. The incident remains under investigation.
