Dale Brian Manning was born June 17, 1963, in Le Mars, the son of Milo F. and Margaret Jean (Dennler) Manning. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1981. Following high school, Dale spent his early career as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, logging over two million miles behind the wheel. After his rheumatoid arthritis prevented him from doing physical labor, Dale earned his degree in criminal justice from Bellevue University in 2005, with honors on the National Dean’s List. Next, he worked for the department of corrections and was currently serving as an in-home social worker for Family Solutions LLC.
He married his brown-eyed-girl, Teresa Rolling on April 30, 1988. His greatest joy was his two sons, JD and Ethan, and was lovingly known as “Uncle D” by many. Dale was known for his enormous heart, love of life and his contagious laugh. Once you met him, you were family – always welcomed and offered a cup of his infamous black lightning coffee.
Dale was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and maintained 33 years of sobriety. He mentored many by building relationships and leading by example. Not only did Dale take care of his own, he welcomed anyone in need into his family’s home and life. He served as a Boy Scout leader and little league coach. Dale also volunteered for the Merrill Fire Department and the Sioux City Drug Court and Council. He was a very passionate man with an all-or-none mentality. This was evident when it came to enjoying the outdoors with camping, fishing and hunting, as well as being a Green Bay Packer fanatic. Dale was a beloved member of the community and meant so much to so many.
