Lampasas, Texas, formerly Sioux City

A​ ​Celebration​ ​of​ ​Life​ ​Ceremony​ ​is​ ​planned​ ​for​ ​April​ ​7,​ ​2018​ ​in​ ​Lampasas,​ ​Texas. The​ ​family​ ​wishes​ ​to​ ​thank​ ​the​ ​Staff​ ​of​ ​Regal​ ​Nursing​ ​Home​ ​and​ ​New​ ​Century​ ​Hospice​ ​for​ ​the​ ​love and​ ​care​ ​they​ ​gave​ ​to​ ​Dorothy​ ​during​ ​her​ ​illness. For​ ​those​ ​wishing​ ​to​ ​honor​ ​Dorothy's​ ​memory​ ​donations​ ​may​ ​be​ ​made​ ​to​ ​Alzheimer​ ​Foundation​ ​of America​ ​at​ ​www.alzfdn.org.

Dorothy L. Matney​ ​was​ ​born​ ​August​ ​2,​ ​1931​ ​in​ ​Sioux​ ​City,​ ​the​ ​daughter​ ​of​ ​Fred​ ​and​ ​Florence (Heimbecker)​ ​Card.

On​ ​March​ ​26,​ ​1949​ ​she​ ​married​ ​the​ ​love​ ​of​ ​her​ ​life,​ ​Marvin​ ​Matney​ ​in​ ​Sioux​ ​City.

She​ ​was​ ​a​ ​long​ ​time​ ​resident​ ​of​ ​Sioux​ ​City​ ​and​ ​Hinton,​ ​Iowa. ​ ​She​ ​attended​ Sioux City ​East​ ​High​ ​School and worked​ ​at​ ​Kay​ ​Dee​ ​Feed​ ​-​ ​Nutra​ ​Flo,​ ​​in​ ​Sioux​ ​City.​ ​In​ ​1982​ ​she​ ​and​ ​Marvin​ ​moved​ ​to​ ​San​ ​Antonio, Texas​ ​where​ ​she​ ​was​ ​a​ ​financial aid​ ​auditor​ ​for​ ​Career​ ​Com​ ​until​ ​she​ ​retired.

She​ ​was​ ​known​ ​for​ ​her​ ​kindness,​ ​generosity,​ ​fabulous​ ​cooking,​ ​but​ ​most​ ​of​ all, ​for​ ​her​ ​wit​ ​and​ ​humor. The​ ​most​ ​important​ ​part​ ​of​ ​her​ ​life​ ​was​ ​spending​ ​time​ ​with​ ​her​ ​family​ ​near​ and​ far.

She​ ​is​ ​survived​ ​by​ ​her​ ​husband​, Marvin; two​ ​children, Tina​ ​Marie​ ​Matney ​(Hyman Izbicki) and​ ​Marvin​ ​Eldon​ ​Matney​ ​II​ ​(Stephanie​); grandchildren, Matthew​ ​Matney,​ ​Austin Matney,​ ​Braydon​ ​Matney,​ ​Hailey​ ​Williams​ ​and​ ​Lea​ ​Parrott; five​ great​ grandchildren; her​ ​sister, Marilyn​ ​and​ ​(Robert​ ​{Red} ​DeStiger​) ​of​ ​Sioux​ ​City​ ​and​ ​many​ ​nieces​ ​and​ ​nephews.

She​ ​was​ ​preceded​ ​in​ ​death​ ​by​ ​her​ ​parents;​ ​her​ ​step​ ​father,​ ​Norman​ ​Mortensen;​ ​her​ ​step​ ​mother,​ ​Lottie Card ​and​ ​her​ ​sister,​ ​Darlene​ ​Peterson.
