SOUTH SIOUX CITY | Edith D. Beck, 101, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at her residence.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Edith was born on Feb. 23, 1911, in Wakefield, Neb., to Nels and Anna (Nordberg) Johnson. She attended school in Emerson, Neb. Although she spent the majority of her life being a dedicated homemaker and mother of four, she also worked for 12 years for FW Means and four years at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and canning. She was a 20-year member of the Fraternal Eagles Club, past secretary of a bowling league, and a member of the South Sioux City Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Edith is survived by her son, Robert (EvaJean) Beck of Garfield, Ark.; daughter, Dolores Jaminet of Sioux City; son, Larry Beck and companion, Renne of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, June Beck of Watertown, Wis.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Beck; three brothers; and four sisters.
