Kenneth O. Vanderlinden, 81, of Sioux City, passed into the presence of his Savior Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at home with his family by his side.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux City. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kenneth was born on Oct. 1, 1936, to Leonard and Lorraine (Sigler) Vanderlinden.
He was united in marriage to Dee Taylor on Jan. 14, 1956, in Sioux City. He and Dee were partners with his brother-in-law, Jack Taylor and wife, Karen, at Sunkist Bakery for 27 years. After selling, he remained working at Sunkist for seven years. Later, he worked at Countryside Nursing Home for several years followed by driving for the Siouxland Blood Bank for 10 years. Kenneth was a proud blood donor and had given 37 and a half gallons over many years.
He loved the Lord and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; son, Kenny Vanderlinden of Sioux City; daughter, Kellie (Jon) Henderson of Belton, Mo.; daughter, Karrie (Mark) Edwards of South Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Carley, David, Josh and Jacob Henderson, Danielle Updegraff (Andrew), and Rachel and Nicholle Edwards; and three great-grandsons, Phoenix Medina, Elias Updegraff, and Nathan Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary; an infant son, Allen; and daughter, Susan.
