Margaret Hoekstra, 89, of Hull, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hull Protestant Reformed Church. The Rev. James Laning will officiate. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Hull. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today, with the family present 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Margaret was born on Dec. 15, 1928, southwest of Hull, the daughter of Evert and Maggie (Mulder) Van Maanen. She was raised in Hull and graduated from the Perkins Country School.
On Feb. 13, 1948, she married Donald Hoekstra in Hull. They first lived in Pipestone, Minn., for a short time and then settled in Hull, where they farmed. In addition to being a homemaker, she was the custodian of Hull Protestant Reformed Church for 47 years. Donald passed away on Aug. 30, 1994, in Hull.
Mrs. Hoekstra was a member of Hull Protestant Reformed Church. She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include five children and their spouses, Peter and Judy Hoekstra of Ripon, Calif., Marcella and Marlin Vis of Holland, Mich., David and Donna Hoekstra and Donna and Jay De Wit, all of Hull, and Stanley and Barb Hoekstra of Hawarden, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Lee Hoekstra; and a great-grandson, Tayven Wallenburg.
