SCHLESWIG, Iowa -- Margery M. Salmon of Denison, Iowa, formerly of Schleswig, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Services will be 10 a.m Saturday at Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, Iowa, with the Rev. Norm Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Kiron Cemetery, Kiron, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Born Nov. 9, 1919, in Corwin Township, Ida County, Iowa, Margery Marie Salmon was the daughter of George C. and Laura Fay (Glass) Burnquist. She attended school in Odebolt and Arthur, Iowa, graduating from Arthur High School in 1938.

On Feb. 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Verdell M. Salmon in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Schleswig area for many years.

She had numerous hobbies and interests including quilting, sewing, fishing, dancing, gardening and baking. She also enjoyed attending craft fairs and especially appreciated time spent with her family.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Dwayne and Karen Salmon of Ida Grove, Iowa, Carroll and Beverly Salmon of Sioux City and Rodney and Leita Salmon of DeSoto, Mo.; three daughters, Karen Bumann of Ida Grove, Mary Gates of Ankeny, Iowa, and Crystal and her husband, Jim Pulscher of Woodbine, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Stokes of Springfield, Ore., Ione Deal of Ames, Iowa, and Arlene and her husband, Bill Lindgren of Bartlett, Ill.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verdell in 1994; a daughter, Mardell Rodine; and two sons-in-law, Ray Bumann Jr. and Frederick Gates Sr.
