Robert C. "Bob" Campbell, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be offered online at

Bob was born on March 2, 1931, in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Elman P. and Charlotte (Kightlinger) Campbell. His family moved to Sioux City, where he attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. Upon his release from active duty, he was transferred to the Army Reserves for eight years.

On Feb. 15, 1955, he married Dolores Mae Dries in Sioux City. Together they raised four children, Paula, Randi, Robert "Scott" and Kelli. Bob worked for 31 years at Swift & Co. meat packing plant and retired in 1985. Dolores passed away on Aug. 22, 2001, in Sioux City.

Bob was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 307 of South Sioux City. Bob enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard.

Survivors include his children, Paula (Greg) Benson of Sheridan, Wyo., Randi (Tim) O'Keefe of Manti, Utah, and Kelli (Jim) Solsma of Dakota Dunes; daughter-in-law, Cammie Campbell of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Jack (Gerre) Campbell of Bloomfield, Neb.; grandchildren, Megan Larson, Kylie Spurling, Jeremiah Harper, Alex, Jaden and Trent Solsma, Chelsea Elmore, Taylor and Nate Hampton; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elman and Charlotte Campbell; wife, Dolores Campbell; son, Robert "Scott" Campbell; and siblings, Dick, Shirley Worden, Jim, Bill (Bob's twin), and Mack Campbell.
