Formerly Le Mars, Iowa
Timothy Joseph Langel, 64, formerly of Le Mars, passed away peacefully Friday, April 6, 2018, at his home in International Falls, Minn.
Per Tim's request, there will be no services.
Tim was born on Jan. 17, 1954, to Larry "Butch" and Lynn (Weber) Langel in Le Mars. The oldest of eight siblings, Tim would laugh as he recalled he was no stranger to crying babies and dirty diapers. Tim attended Gehlen Catholic School. He started at a young age working with his father at Langel Body Shop, at which he was a quick study. Tim always had the knack of figuring out how things worked, being able to take anything apart and put it back together. He continued to work at the body shop, and also opened another location in Remsen, Iowa, and ultimately settling back in Le Mars. After his father passed away, Tim and his cousin, Ted Langel, operated the shop together.
Tim married Rhonda Ellsworth in October 1975. They had two sons, Matthew and Mick. Tim lived in Le Mars for most of his life, putting in more than 40 years with Langel Body Shop. He enjoyed his work and was excellent at everything he did. Tim had a love for cars, which his profession let him live out, owning and fixing many throughout the years.
After years of hard work, and a little bit of luck, Tim was able to retire in International Falls with his wife, Mary Hermes, where he was able to live on vacation.
Tim enjoyed life. He loved all animals, most recently his three Dobermans, Ludwig, Rusti, and Rommel. Tim was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, always having time for each and every one. He was amazing at fixing and improving all things. His infectious laugh and witty charm brought a smile to all.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Hermes) Langel; Matthew (Randi) Langel of Le Mars, and Mick (Nutcharee) Langel of West Des Moines; siblings, Terry (Dan) Seei, Aurora, Ill., Pat (Patty) Langel, West Des Moines, Mike (Yumi) Langel, Marysville, Ohio, Mary (Dan) Newman, Woodstock, Ill., and Sara (Dave) Von Arb, Johnston, Iowa; and grandchildren, Matilynn, Layne, Jet, Jaden, and Jordan Langel.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Lynn Langel; and sisters, Ann Langel and Shawn (Mark) Kaiser of Jacksonville, Fla.
Tim had touched many lives, was greatly loved, and will be missed by all.
