SIOUX CITY | A water main break caused the closure of 3rd Street near Jones Street and Jackson Street Tuesday morning.
Jon O'Brien, superintendent of Sioux City's underground utilities department, said he couldn't be sure of what caused the water main to break, but added that cold weather is a possible cause.
"As of right now, it's just a water main break," O'Brien said.
The affected portion of 3rd Street is closed off while the department works on repairs. O'Brien said the street could be opened back up by Tuesday afternoon.
"Unless something happen that changes it," he said.
