SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City woman is no longer charged with robbing a Sioux City bar last month.

Assistant Woodbury County Attorney Jill Esteves on Thursday moved to dismiss the complaint and affidavit that had charged Zallie Moniz with second-degree robbery.

District Judge Julie Schumacher approved the dismissal.

According to the complaint, Moniz, 33, had been accused of drinking Perera's Place, 2611 Correctionville Road, on May 16 when she became agitated with owner Robert Perera, pulled out a knife and demanded money and his wallet and that he give her a ride to 19th and Court streets.

Esteves said in her dismissal motion that a witness to the incident gave police a false address and could not be located to be subpoenaed to appear for a deposition. Statements given to police by Perera and Moniz differed greatly, and more time is needed to find the witness. Esteves also said the knife, described as a machete, that was later found also needs to be processed for fingerprints.
