SOUTH SIOUX CITY | It's been almost a month since South Sioux City police knew the location of a car that was driven into the Missouri River.
Chief Scot Ford said he has no idea where the car is at this point. May 8 was the last time the car was found.
The biggest challenge for searchers is the current, Ford said. At one point the current pushed the car 350 yards down stream overnight. Divers also have to wear weights to avoid getting washed away.
Ford does not know when the next search will be conducted, but wants to get teams on the water in the near future. Search dates have to be coordinated with a sonar team, dive team and on-shore wrecker crew to pull the car out.
Police do not know if anything was in the car when a Minnesota man drove it into the water near Fourth Avenue on April 28.
