SIOUX CITY | KTIV anchor Kristie VerMulm is leaving the station in November, it was announced Wednesday.

VerMulm in a statement said she’s stepping down to spend more time with family. VerMulm and her husband have a daughter who is starting her sophomore year and a son beginning fifth grade.

“They're very active and my work schedule doesn't always allow me the opportunity to be at their events,” she said. “For the last 17 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to anchor the evening newscasts at KTIV.”

He last day will be Nov. 27. An announcement about her replacement is expected in coming weeks, according to a station press release.

VerMulm, a native of Harrisburg, S.D., said she plans to stay in Sioux City.
