US Highway 20 rollover

Emergency responders work at the scene of a tanker rollover accident Monday at mile marker 3 of U.S. Highway 20 in Sioux City. Initial reports stated the driver was trapped inside the cab of the semi tractor.

SIOUX CITY | A semitrailer truck rolled over in a high-traffic spot near a Sioux City retail center, backing up traffic along a portion of U.S. Highway 20, on Monday.

Authorities responded to the crash around noon Monday in the 1200 block of Highway 20 eastbound, near Lakeport Commons. Assistant Chief Dan Cougill with Sioux City Fire Rescue told The Journal the driver was transported to Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City with suspected minor injuries. The semi was the only vehicle involved in the crash, he said. 

Highway 20 was blocked from Exit 1 at South Lakeport Street to Exit 2 at Sunnybrook Drive as crews were on scene for approximately two hours.
