SIOUX CITY | Siouxland has been in need of rain after a long period with little precipitation, and the arrival of rain for the second time this week could again be accompanied by thunderstorms.
A series of heavy thunderstorms with damaging winds moved through Siouxland on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, knocking out electrical power in thousands of homes in varying counties.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls is forecasting the possibility of thunderstorms in the area later Friday and into Saturday.
The Sioux City forecast for Friday has a high of 93 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. The chance of thunderstorms runs into 1 a.m. Saturday. Some of the storms could be severe.
Another chance of rain and storms returns after 1 p.m. Saturday, with a 30 percent chance of showers on a day with the forecast high of 81 degrees.
The following days are forecast to be clearing, with mostly sunny conditions. The predicted high is 76 on Sunday and 84 on Monday.
