SIOUX CITY | A broken water main caused the closure of the 2700 block of Myrtle Street Friday morning.
Jon O'Brien, Sioux City's underground utilities superintendent, said the break was reported to the department around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Though the exact cause of the water main break is still undetermined, O'Brien speculated it was a "360 break" due to ground movement, possibly because of cold weather.
O'Brien said he was unsure of how long it would take to repair the break, and that it would depend on what the crews find.
"I don't really like to put timetables on it," he said.
