STORM LAKE, IA | Three people were arrested and four children taken into custody after a Wednesday-morning search of a Storm Lake residence that netted drugs, guns and large amounts of cash.
According to a press release, the Storm Lake Police Department's Tactical Entry Team, supported by the Buena Vista County Emergency Response Team and the Sac County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, executed a search warrant at 1102 West Fifth Street in Storm Lake, seeking drugs.
Bounpane Phaymany, 33, and Brenda Vang, 26, both of Storm Lake, were arrested, and four children between the ages of 3 and 6 were taken into custody.
In the house, authorities found 1.2 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of about $19,000, as well as a semi-automatic handgun and $400 in cash.
While authorities were still at the residence, a third person, Dylan Gustafson, 24, of Aurelia, IA, showed up. He was searched and found to be in possession of $8,500 in cash, two ounces of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
Phaymany was charged with Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, a class B felony; Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a class D felony; and four counts of Child Endangerment, a class D felony. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $25,000 bond.
Vang was charged with four counts of Child Endangerment, a class D felony. She was booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $5,000 bond.
Gustafson was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, both serious misdemeanors. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,000.00 bond.
The four children were taken into the custody of the Iowa Department of Human Services.
