DAKOTA COUNTY, Neb. | One man is dead and another hospitalized due to a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office said Marvin Wayne Bird Jr. of Sioux City was southbound on Highway 77 as Ed Tryon, also from Sioux City, was headed north.
Their cars struck each other head on, a couple of miles north of Homer, Neb., authorities said.
Bird, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tryon was flown to Mercy Medical Center Sioux City. He was listed in fair condition as of Sunday afternoon.
The cause of the accident is being investigated with help from the Nebraska State Patrol.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Homer Fire and Rescue, and the South Sioux City Police Department assisted with the accident.
