SIOUX CITY - I agree with the Journal and not with State Senators Bill Anderson, Rick Bertrand and Randy Feenstra who, as members of the Senate Commerce Committee, voted for you and I to pay for MidAmerican Energy's proposed nuclear power plant. Only big stockholders of MAE would vote for such folly.
All of this is on top of the 4.9 percent price increase that, in part, MAE started billing us for earlier this month. That is to pay for the costs associated with satisfying new environmental regulations and transporting coal by rail. Warren Buffett owns MAE. He also owns a railroad that transports MAE'S coal. So, hang on to your wallets.
You may want to give the senators a chance to redeem themselves by encouraging them to change their vote to "no" if HF 561 makes it to the Senate floor.
