SIOUX CITY | Police have released the name of the man found in the Missouri River south of Sioux City early Sunday.
Police said the body is that of Mario Medina, 28, of Sioux City.
The body was found near the Weedland Access, a boat ramp off 235th Street south of Sioux City.
Sioux City police Lt. Mark Kirkpatrick said they're awaiting the results of an autopsy before discussing the case.
Officials have not released details about how Medina ended up in the water.
It is the third body found in the Missouri River near Sioux City this season. On June 14, Anthony Campbell, 25, went missing while swimming in South Sioux City. His body was found downriver in a pool of slow water at the south end of Scenic Park.
An 80-year-old man also went into the river on July 10 near the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Foul play was not suspected in either case.
