WINNEBAGO, Neb. -- Emily Rave-Sampson, 56, of Winnebago passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, with Stuart Snake Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Rave Cemetery. Visitation will begin today and will continue until service time Tuesday at the Ho-Chunk Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program.
Emily was born Oct. 26, 1953, in Winnebago. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1973. She lived a majority of her life in Winnebago. She was employed with John Morrell for 11 years.
She was a member of the Native American Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Nellie Brown of Winnebago; a granddaughter, Kayleen Brown of Minot, N.D.; a great-grandson, Malakai Brown-Chaske of Minot; and a nephew, Horace Rave of Winnebago.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Horace and Sophie Rave; an infant son, Arthur; a son, Elgy Brown Jr.; her husband, Rodney D, Sampson; a sister, Vivian Rave; and two brothers, Herman Rave and John Rave.
Pallbearers will be Barney Thomas, Heath Thomas, Isaac Smith, William Bell III, Michael Horton and Horace Rave.
