Frank Alphonse Orban was born Nov. 13, 1915, on the family farm in Johnson Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, to John and Mary (Dondlinger) Orban. Frank attended country school near his home. As a young man, Frank began farming with his father, John Orban.

While living on the farm, Frank and Viola attended St. Joseph Catholic Church-Ellendale for many years. When they moved to Le Mars, they became members of St. James Catholic Church.

During retirement, Frank enjoyed his large garden in town, playing cards with family and friends, playing checkers, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
