Paul was born in Canton, S.D., on Dec. 27, 1969, and grew up in Hawarden. He attended West Sioux School in Hawarden and was very active in sports. He lettered in football there.
He started his sales career with Gateway Computers when they were in a small building at the airport in Sergeant Bluff. He did not start as a salesman, but wanted to be one. He asked if he could. They told him that he had to sell a stapler to the sales manager to prove his sales ability. He was successful in that and became one of their leading sales persons. He later became a sales trainer for Gateway and traveled to various locations for the company. He later held other various sales positions including Apple Computers and Microsoft. He dearly loved living in Seattle, Wash. That was truly his home.
He became a devout Catholic and his Lord became the most important thing in his life. He spent many hours with his dear friend and priest, Father Kemna. His health forced him into an early retirement. He moved to Post Falls, Idaho, to be with his mother, stepfather and brother so they could help him manage his illness.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Ringgenberg and stepfather, Larry Ringgenberg of Post Falls; his father, Norman Van Voorst (Tweila) of Sioux Center Iowa; his brother, Brian Van Voorst of Post Falls; stepsisters and stepbrothers, Leann Hicks (Tim) of Sioux City, Michelle Clark (Tom) of Sioux City, Ronda Yezek (Jerry) of Burnsville Minn., Daniel Moore (Kay) and David Moore (Jerlyn), both of Sioux Falls S.D.; aunts and uncles, Pat Gayken (Larry) of Greeley, Colo., Linda Blom (Doug) of Greeley, Judy Heffele of Yankton, S.D., Geneva Van Beek (Albert) of Rock Valley Iowa, Kathy Van Voorst of Canton S.D., and Joyce Van Voorst of Fallbrook Calif.; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by two uncles, Marvin Van Voorst of Fallbrook, Calif., and Daniel Van Voorst of Canton, S.D.
He was loved and will be missed by many.
