CORRECTIONVILLE | Five teenagers suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries Friday night after the vehicle they were in crashed into a tree in Copeland Park.
Woodbury County Sheriff's Office Maj. Todd Wieck said the teens, who are from the Correctionville area, were driving through the park at about 10 p.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.
"There were some broken bones, bruises and lacerations," Wieck said. Speed was a factor in the crash, but alcohol is not suspected of being involved, he said.
One girl was temporarily trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, Wieck said. The injured were taken to an area medical facility. Their names and conditions have not been released.
