Sioux City property owners have a real choice Nov. 7 when they go to the polls and vote: Return three incumbent City Council members and their current fiscal priorities or send a strong message about critical infrastructure needs (versus investments, development and jobs).
Recently, a sixth water-main failure in nine years crippled my west-side neighborhood; families were without functional toilets for 26 hours. With many city sewer/water lines 100-plus years old, "quality of life" for many of us is about basic municipal services and not recreational trails or concert/convention venues.
Candidates Doug Waples, Jake Jungers and Denny Quinn seem understanding, supportive, and committed, and offer a new direction refocusing on "the basics" (there isn't enough money to do both).
