This is in reference to a March 10 Opinion page article written by national syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts Jr.
He states that the best thing President Trump can do for us on the forthcoming Martin Luther King remembrance day is to ignore it. His opinion is that he is too morally corrupt to perform such a duty, that it would only pale in comparison to the past eight years under President Obama’s watch.
Perhaps the POTUS can’t relate to the sorrows and history of blacks, nor emit words of insight and eloquence of his predecessor. But to box him into a "damned if you do and damned if you don’t" position only shows that he himself (Pitts) is putting up roadblock barriers on the bridge to cross to racial harmony. - Doug O'Brien, Sioux City
