There has been much debate over the proposed tax cuts even before the framework had been published. The salient point of this discussion seems to orbit around how the government will pay for these cuts and who should benefit most. Allow me to provide clarity to this issue.

The government pays for nothing; it is the taxpayer who funds the government and its reckless spending. The debate should center on how much longer “We the people” will allow this irresponsible spending and redistribution of wealth to remain unabated before we take the power of the purse back from Congress. Or, perhaps we should debate on how much longer 46 percent of the population will continue to pay no net income tax yet receive a “tax refund."

I am reminded of a quote by Thomas Jefferson: “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who are not.”

Some very visionary and profound thought from a founding father of whom the liberals have demonized as a horrible racist and someone unfit to be honored by history. - Edward Ferris, Sioux City
