CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa | Jacob Burns went 2-for-4 from the plate and drove in two runs as the Coe baseball team defeated Buena Vista 5-4 in an elimination game of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament here Saturday.

Coe (24-17) trailed 4-1 through seven innings, then scored four runs in the top of the eighth to take a 5-4 lead. Burns singled to left field to score two runs, then Andrew Brierton hit a two-run homer to right field to put the Kohawks on top.

Kolby Hilgenberg hit a one-out triple to center field in the bottom of the ninth for Buena Vista, but Coe induced a ground out and a fly out to end the game.

Hilgenberg went 2-for-5 and drove in one run. Bryce Rheault went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Beavers. Devon Harms went 2-for-4 and drove in one run.

Buena Vista ends its season at 26-17.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 11, FORT WAYNE 2: The South Dakota State baseball team scored nine runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeated Fort Wayne 11-2 in a Summit League game on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Matt Johnson went 4-for-5 from the plate with a double, a solo homer and two total RBIs for the Jackrabbits (21-22, 14-12). Luke Ringhofer drove in three runs. Anthony Schneider went 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI.

Tyler Olmstead pitched six innings and allowed three hits, one run, one walk and struck out three batters in a no decision. Chris Halbur pitched the ninth inning and allowed no hits, one walk and struck out one to earn the win.

The win for SDSU (21-22, 14-12) clinches a spot in the Summit League Baseball Championship tournament with four games left in the regular season.

OHIO STATE 12, IOWA 7: Shea Murray went 3-for-4 from the plate with a solo homer and a pair of RBIs as the Ohio State baseball team defeated Iowa 12-7 in a Big 10 game on Saturday in Iowa City.

Connor Curlis pitched six innings and allowed six hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out four to earn the win for the Buckeyes (20-31, 7-13). Noah West had a two-run double and three total RBIs.

Matt Hoeg drove in three runs for Iowa (30-18, 12-8). Robert Neustrom, a Sioux City North graduate, drove in one run. Grant Judkins went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
