HOUSTON, Texas | Iowa's No. 8 and 9 hitters in its batting order went 5-for-6 and drove in three runs and the Hawkeyes went on to down top-seed Houston 6-3 in a first-round NCAA baseball regional Friday.
Ben Norman batting out of the eight position in the Iowa order had three hits and drove in a run while No. 9 hitter Mitchell Bow had two hits and drove in two.
Iowa scored once in the second inning and never trailed though the Cougars tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth. Former Sioux City prep athletes Robert Neustrom and Tyler Cropley each had two hits as the Hawkeyes had 13 hits for the game.
Iowa will take on Texas A&M in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 7 p.m.
