IOWA CITY, Iowa | Jake Adams hit a pair of home runs as Iowa rallied from five runs down to defeat Omaha 9-8 in a non-conference baseball game here Tuesday.
Omaha led 8-3 after six innings but a pair of solo homers by Adams helped pull the Hawkeyes within 8-7 after eight innings. Justin Jenkins led off the ninth reaching a hit by pitch and he eventually scored the tying run on Chris Whelan's third hit of the game. Mason McCoy followed and hit a grounder to short that was misplayed, scoring Corbin Woods with the winning run.
Reliever Kyle Shimp (5-0) was the winning pitcher for the Hawkeyes, now 32-18 entering a weekend series at Illinois starting Thursday.
