BALDWIN, Kan. -- Northwestern used a five-run third inning and a strong pitching performance from Mitchell Kresnik to down Baker University 7-1 here Tuesday.
Kresnik went all seven innings and allowed eight hits. He gave up one run, walked two and struck out on four to improve to 1-1 on the season.
Baker scored first in the second inning, but Northwestern loaded the bases before Colton Harold drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the third. A wild pitch brought in the second run and Matt Martin singled to drive in a run. A pair of RBI groundouts ended the scoring.
Martin finished with two of Northwestern's four hits in the game.
Northwestern dropped its first game of the day to Jamestown 15-5.
The Jimmies pounded out 12 hits and scored 12 runs in the first two innings. Northwestern got two hits apiece from Colton Harold, Mason O'Donnell, Ben De Boer and David Rowley.
Northwestern is now 2-6 on the season.
