HASTINGS, Neb. -- Trailing 4-0 going to the sixth inning, Northwestern scored five runs to win the first game of a GPAC doubleheader 5-4 over Mount Marty on Monday.
Matt Martin began the inning with a triple and Dustin Gaither followed by drawing a walk. Mitchell Kresnik then brought home Martin with a single and Colton Harold had a bunt single to load the bases. Zach Rosson singled to drive in a run as did A.J. Nitzschke with another base knock to make it 4-3.
The winning run came home on a fielder's choice and an error allowing two runners to score.
Northwestern had nine hits in the game with Harold and Rosson each collecting two. Tanner Ortlund worked one inning to get the win as he struck out two.
The Red Raiders completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory in the second game. Michael Callahan went 4-for-4 at the plate and Reed Smith went 3-for-4.
Kresnik improved to 4-1 going six innings, allowing seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Northwestern is now 17-15 overall and 10-4 in the GPAC.
