SIOUX FALLS | Sioux City opened its final series of the season by rocking Sioux Falls pitching for 16 hits and won 8-2 at the Birdcage Friday evening.

The Explorers broke a scoreless game with four runs in the fourth inning and had a 7-0 lead before the Canaries broke through with two runs in the sixth.

LeVon Washington had a two-run home run to give Sioux City 2-0 lead run and ended his evening with three hits and three RBI's. Eudor Garcia also had a four-hit game and drove in two runs for the Explorers (45-52).

Starting pitcher Cody Forsythe (6-8) had a strong start and got the win, giving up two runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning five. Ryan Flores pitched the final three innings and held Sioux Falls scoreless on two hits and picked up his second save.

The teams play once more in Sioux Falls Saturday before heading to Lewis & Clark Park for a Sunday evening and Monday afternoon game to wrap up the season.
