The Blue Rocks later added two runs in the second and one in the fifth. In the second, Gabriel Cancel hit a two-run double, while Vallot hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Khalil Lee in the fifth.

Carolina missed a scoring opportunity in the eighth, when Dallas Carroll flew out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Wilmington southpaw Cristian Castillo (1-1) picked up the win after allowing one run on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Marcos Diplan (0-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game after allowing four runs and three hits over two innings.
