WAYNE, Neb. | Senior first baseman Cody Jenkins and junior outfielder David Janes each won second-team honors as Wayne State’s representatives on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference all-conference baseball team that was released Tuesday.
Jenkins, a native of Englewood, Colo., is batting .341 with six home runs and 38 RBIs for Wayne State (28-22, 23-15 NSIC). He led the Wildcats this season in hits (60), multi-hit games (16) and multi-RBI games (9).
Janes, a native of Dubuque, Iowa, is batting .363 with a home run and 24 RBIs. Wayne State’s leader with 43 hits in NSIC play, Janes had a team-high 18-game hitting streak and produced 11 multi-hit games.
Wayne State was also represented on the all-conference team by senior outfielder Aaron Krier, an NSIC Gold Glove honoree. A native of Aurelia, Iowa, Krier (.289, 10 HR, 35 RBIs) earned his honor by posting a .993 fielding percentage with just one error, 131 putouts and six assists.
Wayne State is seeded fourth going into this afternoon’s 12:30 first-round NSIC Tournament game at St. Cloud, Minn., against fifth-seeded Minot State (28-20, 23-17).
