VERMILLION. S.D. | Five players scored in double figures as the University of South Dakota downed Oral Roberts 86-72 in Summit League men’s basketball action Saturday at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
Tyler Peterson led the way with 14 points in a reserve role for the Coyotes, now 19-10 overall and 10-4 in the Summit League. Matt Mooney added 13 points while Tyler Flack, Triston Simpson and Tyler Hagedorn each had 12 points.
South Dakota’s bench played a major factor, outscoring the Oral Roberts reserves 43-15. Hagedorn popped in four 3-pointers and Simpson two, while Peterson grabbed six rebounds.
Flack was playing his final home game in a USD uniform. The Coyotes, who finished with a 13-1 record in their new arena, remained a game ahead of North Dakota State in the league standings with two remaining. USD’s final two contests, however, are on the road.
USD shot 51 percent from the field and made eight three pointers, four by Hagedorn, a 6-10 sophomore from Norfolk, Nebraska.
