SIOUX FALLS | Trey Burch-Manning recorded a double-double, leading South Dakota to an 84-71 men’s basketball triumph over Southern Miss in the Sanford Pentagon Showcase here Friday.
The Coyotes (5-1) caught fire in the second half, making 16 of 23 shots for 69.6 percent after leading 32-31 at halftime. Southern Miss made 50 percent of its shots after intermission but was outscored 52-40.
Burch-Manning finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Tyler Hagedorn added 16 points and seven rebounds and Matt Mooney 15 points. Burch-Manning and Hagedorn combined to shoot 10-for-14 from the field.
The Coyotes outrebounded Southern Miss (2-2) 39-23. Dan Jech came off the bench to contribute eight points and seven rebounds, while Tyler Peterson tossed in nine points in a reserve role.
South Dakota meets Northern Colorado at 6:30 p.m. here Saturday.
Cortez Edwards led Southern Miss with 18 points.
