MITCHELL, S.D. | Briar Cliff took over sole possession of first place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with an 86-83 men’s basketball triumph over Dakota Wesleyan here Saturday.
The fifth-ranked (NAIA Division II) Chargers once again got outstanding play from their back court as Jackson Lamb scored 20 points, Jay Wolfe and Erich Erdman 17 apiece and Ethan Freidel 16.
BCU moved to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC. Morningside is one-half game back with a 4-1 league mark.
The Chargers trailed 42-38 at halftime but shot 63 percent from the field in the second half.
Jason Spicer tallied 20 points, Ty Hoglund 18 and Trae Vandeberg and Tyson Smiley 12 apiece for Dakota Wesleyan (10-5, 4-3).
