ORANGE CITY, Iowa | No. 11 Morningside overcame a slow start to down 83-75 No. 22 Northwestern here Wednesday.

The Mustangs, who lost to the Red Raiders on their home court earlier this season, trailed 25-19 after the first quarter but had the game tied at 40-all at halftime.

Morningside hit 11 3-pointers in the game and was led by Lauren Lehmkuhl who had 23 points. Lehmkuhl hit five 3s as she was one of five Mustangs to reach double figures.

Madison Braun added 15 points, Lexi Ackerman had 14 points and nine assists, Taylor Bahensky finished with 13 points and Sydney Hupp had 10.

Morningside, which improved to 19-6 overall and 10-5 in the GPAC, hit 12 of 17 free throws in the game.

Northwestern (16-8, 8-8) was paced by Anna Kiel's 20 points, Kassidy De Jong had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Paige Danner added 12 points. Haley Birks and Renee Maneman had 10 points each.
