INDIANOLA, Iowa | Buena Vista maintained its Iowa Conference men’s basketball lead with a 70-60 victory over Simpson here Wednesday.

The Beavers won for the eighth time in their last nine games, improving to 14-7 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Connor Winkelman came off the bench to toss in 19 points, while former Sergeant Bluff-Luton prep standout Thomas Wisecup and David Jeffries tacked on 14 points apiece.

Simpson (13-8, 6-6) was paced by Ryan Skaar with 15 points. Buena Vista led 33-28 at halftime.

MORNINGSIDE 82, NORTHWESTERN 59: Alex Borchers scored 16 points as the Morningside men’s basketball team defeated 13th-ranked Northwestern 82-59 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference game here Wednesday.

Ryan Tegtmeier had 14 points for the Mustangs (17-7, 7-6) and Brody Egger added 10.

Colton Kooima scored 20 points for Northwestern (20-5, 10-4). Nathan Wedel and Jordan Baker both finished with 10 points.

Morningside mad 31 of 59 field goals (.525) while Northwestern made just 24 of 60 (.400).

BRIAR CLIFF 96, DORDT 74: Briar Cliff shot a sizzling 54 percent from behind the arc and 53 percent from the floor as it overpowered Dordt 96-74 here Wednesday.

The Chargers hit 15 3-pointers and went 19 of 27 from the free throw line.

Bryan Forbes led the way with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Chargers (20-6, 10-4). Jay Wolfe added 17 points, Austin Lefler had 14 and Jordan Eisma 11.

Dordt hit 10 3s of its own led by Alex Terpstra who splashed 7 of 12 attempts behind the arc for 22 points. Alex Henrickson has 13 points and Andrew O'Donnell added 10.

Dordt is now 13-14 overall and 4-11 in the GPAC.
