VERMILLION, S.D. | Matt Mooney and Triston Simoson scored 17 points apiece to lead South Dakota past Fort Wayne 86-69 in a Summit League men's basketball game played at Sanford Coyote Sports Center Thursday.
Nick Fuller also scored 14 points for USD (21-6 overall, 9-2 Summit) while both Tyler Peterson and Tyler Hagedorn added 10.
The Coyotes got off to a fast start, opening an 11-1 lead barely four minutes into the game before leading 45-23 at the half.
Fort Wayne's Bryson Scott entered the game among one of the top-10 scorers in NCAA basketball with a 22.9 points per game average and scored 23 points to lead the Mastadons (16-11 overall, 5-5 Summit).
South Dakota completed a regular-season sweep of the Mastadons, also winning 68-58 in Fort Wayne on Jan. 11. That is the only home loss this season for Fort Wayne.
