SIOUX FALLS | Jaycee Bradley’s season-high 27 points carried South Dakota’s women’s basketball team to an 83-32 rout over Fort Wayne in the first round of the Summit League Championships Saturday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
Bradley missed just once in eight attempts from 3-point range as top-seeded South Dakota (25-5) claimed its 19th consecutive victory, and Bradley tied a Summit League Tournament record with those seven 3-pointers. She made five of those treys in the opening quarter as Coach Dawn Plitzuweit rolled to a 24-2 lead.
Eighth-seeded Fort Wayne (4-24), which received 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench from Jaelencia Williams, pulled within 5-2 on De’Jour Young’s layup with 7:58 left in the first quarter. Bradley’s second 3-pointer of the game launched a 24-0 run for the Coyotes, whose defense held Fort Wayne scoreless until Williams hit a layup with 7:57 left in the second quarter.
Reserves Chloe Lamb and Taylor Frederick scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, for South Dakota. Lamb dished six assists while Frederick shined defensively with three steals and a blocked shot.
South Dakota is idle until noon on Monday when it faces the winner between fourth-seeded Denver and fifth-seeded Oral Roberts, teams that play at noon Sunday.
