FREMONT, Neb. -- Red-hot 65 percent shooting carried 20th-ranked Midland to an upset over fourth-ranked Northwestern on Wednesday night at the Wikert Event Center.

The Warriors raced to a 23-point halftime lead and held off a late Northwestern challenge in recording a 98-84 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory.

Midland shot 39 of 60 from the field and hit 11 three pointers in handing the Red Raiders their first GPAC loss of the season and ending their 17 game winning streak.

Damon Overton was one of five Midland players in double figures with 25 points while also adding nine assists in the win.

Ryan Williams came off the bench to hit four three-pointers and finish with 18 points while Diamontae McKinley hit five three's and tallied 17 points. Alex Starkel (16) and Nick Harden (14) were also in double figures for the Warriors (12-5, 5-2).

Northwestern shot 57 percent from the field in the loss, it's first since the season opener against Dakota State on Oct. 27.

Colton Kooima tallied 19 points and seven assists to pace the Red Raiders while double figures also came from Nathan Wedel (18), Derek Buysse (13) and Justin Van Kalsbeek (10).
